DU Hockey Blog: Jackson to miss 2009-10 season

The fall quarter started on Monday, Sept. 14 at the University of Denver and the hockey team suffered a blow when junior forward Dustin Jackson broke his right leg on Sept. 17 while scrimmaging with his Pioneer teammates. Jackson had successful surgery later that evening and is expected to miss the 2009-10 season. The 6-3, 200-pound power forward has been a regular in the DU lineup for the past two seasons. Jackson has netted 8-17--25 in 75 career games.

DU vs. Ohio State

The Pioneers' series vs. Ohio State will be played on Oct. 15-16 in Columbus, Ohio. The first game of the series will be at 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15 in Value City Arena, the Buckeyes' home rink, on the Ohio State campus. The Pioneers won their seventh NCAA championship at the arena with a 4-1 win over North Dakota in 2005. The second game of the series will be played at Nationwide Arena in downtown Columbus, home of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets. Puck drop for both games is set for 5:05 p.m. MT.

FSN Rocky Mountain to Air 19 DU Hockey Games

FSN Rocky Mountain will telecast 19 regular season University of Denver hockey games, it was announced on Sept. 10 by FSN Rocky Mountain. This marks the ninth consecutive year, and 16th season overall, FSN has telecast DU hockey games.

FSN Rocky Mountain's first hockey telecast is Fri., Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. MT when the Pioneers host Vermont during the 60th Anniversary of DU hockey. The Pioneers' television schedule includes both DU games during the Wells Fargo Denver Cup, Fri., Jan. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Sat., Jan. 2 at 7:00 p.m., and four games against in-state rival Colorado College. In all, 13 WCHA games will air on the network.

DU head coach George Gwozdecky will visit the FSN Rocky Mountain television booth during the Colorado Rockies game vs. St. Louis this Friday (Sept. 25) at Coors Field. Gwozdecky will preview the upcoming season and television schedule, and all things DU hockey early in the game on FSN Rocky Mountain.

DU Student-Season Ticket On Sale Set for Sept. 26

Individual student season tickets for the 2009-10 Denver Pioneer hockey team go on sale Saturday, Sept. 26 at 8 a.m. at the Ritchie Center North Box Office. DU hockey student season tickets cost $52 for 13 games and students are limited to one ticket each with a valid DU student ID.
