INTERVIEW POLICIES     

All interviews with University of Denver student-athletes and coaches must be arranged through the University of Denver Media Relations Department. The University of Denver is committed to accommodating the needs of the media. Coaches and players are typically available before and after practice on a first-come, first-served basis. No interviews will be granted during a practice session.

CREDENTIALS    

Media credentials are issued to accredited members of the media only. Please submit requests online at www.DenverPioneers.com/credential or on letterhead via fax or email to be received at least two working days prior to the event. Credentials may be picked up at the Daniel L. Ritchie Center for Sports and Wellness media will call, located inside the loading dock, 90 minutes prior to the start of each contest. Credentials to be mailed should be requested at least two weeks in advance. Credentials issued for the previous academic year are not valid. Individuals must submit the appropriate documentation in order to receive a new credential for the current year. The University of Denver Division of Athletics reserves the right to accept or reject all credential requests.

PHOTOGRAPHER CREDENTIALS

Photo access at University of Denver Athletics events is limited to accredited photographers on assignment by daily newspapers, national publications, wire services, local and national television outlets, and individuals on special assignment. No freelance, private, high school or college photographer, weekly newspapers or journalism students shall be issued photographic credentials unless they officially represent the visiting or host school. Please submit requests online at www.DenverPioneers.com/credential or on letterhead via fax or email to be received at least two working days prior to the event. Credentials issued for the previous academic year are not valid. Individuals must submit the appropriate documentation in order to receive a new credential for the current year. The University of Denver Division of Athletics reserves the right to accept or reject all credential requests. 

CAMERA PROCEDURES 

Photographers must work from within the designated areas and not block any spectator's view of the action. For men's ice hockey, photographers may shoot from the press box or the Zamboni entrance in the northeast corner. For basketball games, photographers can shoot from the baseline or from the press box. Requests to photograph from any other location in Magness Arena or Hamilton Gymnasium must be made in advance to the University of Denver Media Relations Department. DU reserves the right to accept or reject all credential requests.

STROBES             

Any use of strobe lights at the Ritchie Center for athletic events must be approved by the University of Denver Media Relations Office in advance. Strobe units may not exceed four clusters of strobe lights producing a maximum of 3,200-watt seconds. All strobes must flash at a duration of less than 1/2,000 of a second. All hanging or installed strobes must be placed as close to the playing surface as possible and near the corners but not behind the baskets or the goals. All strobes must be placed at the site and tested 24 hours before the first game during which the strobes will be used. No other strobes, including hand-carried units, are permitted in the arena and no strobes may be placed on or attached to a backboard or goal standard.

RADIO  

All radio stations wishing to broadcast from Magness Arena should contact the University of Denver Media Relations Office at least one week prior to the event. Space will be provided for the official radio station of the visiting team; others will be accommodated as space permits. Phone lines must be arranged for all stations in advance.

TELEPHONES & INTERNET            

The University of Denver has telephones, ethernet lines and wireless internet available for media use in Magness Arena. Wireless internet is available in Hamilton Gymnasium. Media members requiring dedicated telephone or ethernet lines are asked to contact a member of the University of Denver Athletic Media Relations Department.

GAME SERVICES              

Pregame media notes, biographical updates, lineups, game programs and season statistics will be available to the working media in the press box at Magness Arena. For hockey, shot charts will be provided between each period and complete game packets are available following the game. For all sports, In-game statistics will be distributed to members of the media as well as a complete postgame packet following the conclusion of play.

POSTGAME WORK AREA             

The press box will be available following each home game as work area for media. Final statistics and game packets will be available, and telephones will be available for postgame filing.

POSTGAME INTERVIEWS             

Postgame interviews will be conducted following a 10-minute cooling-off period. Denver men's hockey head coach is available in the press box following his postgame radio interview and players are available outside the Pioneer hockey locker room. All other Denver coaches are available outside their locker rooms following the cool-down period. Student-athletes are also available upon request. Media requests for both Denver and opposing coaches and players should be made through the Denver SID running the event. Opponent requests will be forwarded to the visiting SID. All Pioneer locker rooms are closed to the media.

PARKING            

A limited number of media parking spaces are available and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please request parking when requesting credentials. Media parking for athletic events at the Ritchie Center is in lot 401, which is on the east side of Joy Burns Arena. Easiest access is from Jewell Ave., off University Boulevard.

DIRECTIONS TO CAMPUS            

Take I-25 to the South University Boulevard exit. Proceed south to the first stop light (Buchtel Boulevard). Go through the Buchtel Boulevard intersection to the next block south (Jewell Avenue). Take a right on Jewell and proceed west approximately one-half block to the east entrance of the Ritchie Center and Hamilton Gymnasium. Media parking is just east of Joy Burns Arena (the easternmost part of the Ritchie Center) in lot 401.

Weekly Press Conferences with hockey head coach Jim Montgomery, women's basketball head coach Kerry Cremeans, men's basketball head coach Joe Scott and men's lacrosse head coach Bill Tierney will be held on Tuesdays in the Champions Room on the concourse level of Magness Arena. The press conferences will be streamed live for FREE on Pioneer Vision located at www.DenverPioneers.com.
