DENVER -University of Denver Division of Athletics and Recreation Director of Media Relations Nicole Bostel has been selected to receive the 2013 CoSIDA Rising Star Award for the University Division. The Rising Star Award is presented annually to both a university and a college division member of CoSIDA whose outstanding work at their school as well as their service, dedication, energy and enthusiasm makes that person a "rising star" in the field of sports information.

Bostel manages the overall media relations operations for DU's 17 NCAA Division I athletic teams and specifically oversees the publicity efforts for men's lacrosse, women's basketball and volleyball. Presentation of her Rising Star Award is slated for June 14 during CoSIDA's 56th annual national convention at the World Marriott Center in Orlando, Fla.

"There are some sport administrators who clearly have the ability to excel in support of collegiate athletics, which is why Nicole Bostel is more than worthy of this award," said Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Recreation Peg Bradley-Doppes. "What makes Nicole so special is her willingness to go above and beyond for the Division plus her innate capability to easily move between the various areas that constitute an athletics and recreation division, consistently completing every task at a truly high level."

Bostel is in her fifth season at DU. Before joining the Pioneers, Bostel was the season-long communications intern for the Orlando Magic of the NBA. Prior to her work with the Magic, Bostel spent more than two years at Nova Southeastern University where she served as the marketing coordinator (2006-07) and the sports information assistant (Jan. 2005 to July 2006).

Bostel graduated from the University of Florida in December of 2004 with bachelor degrees in public relations and German. While a student at Florida, Bostel was a student assistant in the UF Sports Information Department. Her career in media relations began in 1999 as a high school intern for Major League Soccer's Miami Fusion (dissolved Jan. 2002).
