2011-12: Alternate captain  played 40 games  recorded a career-high nine points on one goal and eight assists  recorded first career goal in 7-2 loss at Michigan Tech (10/28)  recorded three assists during a three-game point streak to start the season  contributed 67 hits and 58 blocked shots • was named to the All-WCHA Academic Team  missed three games with a lower-body injury  committed 11 penalties for 22 PIMs.

2010-11: Played 38 games • recorded four points on four assists • tallied assists against Boston College (10/15), Bemidji State (11/20), Lake Superior State (11/26) and Alaska Anchorage (1/22) • added 96 hits and 49 blocked shots • added a +2 plus/minus rating • missed four games (10/29-11/6) with a nose injury • committed 11 penalties for 22 PIMs • named to the All-WCHA Academic Team and WCHA Scholar-Athlete status for achieving a 3.5 GPA or better.

2009-10: Played 31 games • tallied four points on four assists • tallied assists against Vermont (10/10), Wisconsin (1/22), Mercyhurst (2/5) and North Dakota (3/19) • contributed 131 hits, 15 blocked shots and a +5 plus/minus rating • committed eight penalties for 16 PIMs.

Before Denver: Played the last two seasons for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League (USHL) • tallied 33 points on eight goals and 25 assists as team captain for Cedar Rapids in 2008-09 • added three power-play goals, 56 PIMs and earned the RoughRider Award from his teammates for community service and leadership • member of the 2008 U.S. Under-18 Select Team that was coached by former Denver assistant coach and current RPI head coach Seth Appert which participated in the 2008 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament in the Czech Republic and Slovakia • was the youngest player in the USHL for Cedar Rapids in 2007-08 • member of the 2007 U.S. Under-17 Select Team • selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round (195th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
