Meet #11: No. 20 Denver vs. Illinois-Chicago

Last Time Out: The Pioneers (15-6) traveled to No. 16 Auburn for their final out-of-state meet of the season.  Brianna Artemev won the all-around with a 39.300, as the Tigers defeated DU 196.225-194.350. Kelley Hennigan finished tied for first on bars with a 9.875, while Kristina Coccia's tied for first on floor with a 9.875.

Denver vs. Illinois-Chicago: DU is 2-0 all-time against the Flames. The last time the teams met was in 2006, when Denver hosted UIC and Michigan State. Denver won the tri-meet with a 195.250, while UIC finished in second with a 193.025. Michigan State rounded out the fireld with a 192.550.

Scouting the Flames: Last weekend, UIC (3-9) wrapped up its home schedule with 193.275-192.575 victory over Northern Illinois. Andrea Skala won the all-around with a career-high 39.125 and was named the Midwest Independent Conference All-Arounder of the Week. Chantel Turk, who was named the MIC Specialist of the Week, won the vault with a 9.875 on vault and a career mark of 9.900 on floor.

Top Talent: Denver is ranked in the top 25 in every event this week. The Pioneers are tied for 23rd on vault (48.875 RQS), No. 23 on bars (48.765), No. 18 on beam (48.765) and No. 18 on floor (48.965). Individually, sophomore Brianna Artemev is No. 23 in the nation with a 39.160 all-around RQS, while senior Kelley Hennigan is tied for No. 30 with an RQS of 39.055 in the all-around. Junior Kristina Coccia is ranked 31st in the country with a 9.860 RQS on floor.

Winding Down: After Saturday's meet against Illinois-Chicago, the Pioneers will have only two meets left in the 2010 regular season-at home against Arizona and Cal and on the road at Air Force-before the NCAA Regional Championship on April 10.

On the Horizon: On March 20, Denver will host No. 19 Arizona and Cal at 6 p.m. for the final home meet of the season. Seniors Lauren Garan, Kelley Hennigan and Ellen McCarthy will be honored before the meet in recognition of Senior Night.
