DENVER - The University of Denver led all NCAA schools in the 2011-12 The Hockey News Yearbook's ranking of the top NHL prospects among current, former and future collegiate players.

The Pioneers boasted 10 players on the list, including sophomore forward Beau Bennett (Gardena, Calif.), who is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization.

Former Pioneer Joe Colborne is ranked No. 2 in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, while freshman defenseman Scott Mayfield (St. Louis, Mo.) is ranked No. 4 for the New York Islanders organization. Mayfield was selected 34th overall at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

WCHA Rookie of the Year Jason Zucker (Las Vegas) is ranked No. 7 among all Minnesota Wild prospects. Brothers and Denver natives Drew Shore and Nick Shore also made the list. Drew Shore is ranked No. 8 for the Florida Panthers and Nick Shore is ranked No. 10 among Los Angeles Kings prospects.

Other former Pioneers that made The Hockey News Yearbook list include Rhett Rakhshani (No. 7/New York Islanders), Patrick Wiercioch (No. 7/Ottawa), Marc Cheverie (No. 9/Florida) and Matt Donovan (No. 9/New York Islanders).
