As Associate Vice Chancellor for Sport Supervision and Internal Operations, Ron Grahame is responsible for the overall supervision of all varsity sport programs for the University of Denver on a day-to-day basis.  Ron manages all student athletes and coaches on and off the playing fields while upholding the mission and goals of the Athletic Department and credits the student athletes and coaches for their dedication and leadership demonstrated in the classroom and in competition.

Ron has 30 years of combined athletic experience at the University of Denver.  Promoted to Assistant Vice Chancellor/Senior Associate Athletics Director in 2005, Ron previously served as the Associate Athletics Director for Intercollegiate Sport Programs as well as Assistant Athletic Director for Operations and Compliance in 1993.  Ron also was a member of the Athletic Department staff that participated and implemented the transition of the University of Denver to NCAA Division I and the Sun Belt Conference in 1998.  From 1982-90 Ron served as the Associate Hockey Coach at DU, his alma mater.  Ron played his collegiate hockey as a scholarship student athlete for the crimson and gold from 1969-73 and was a member of the 1973 WCHA Championship Team; voted All American Goalie; 1st Team All Star MVP; and Student Athlete of the Year.  After receiving his BA in 1973, Ron played professional hockey for 8 seasons in the World Hockey Association and National Hockey League. In 1997 Ron was selected by the Hockey News as the 50th Anniversary WHA All Time Goalie, and was proudly inducted into the University of Denver Athletic Department Hall of Fame.  Following 2002, he was honored as a member of the 50th Anniversary WCHA Team.

Ron served on the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Committee from 2000-04 and was the Chair in 2004.  He also served on the Local Organizing Committee for NCAA Men's Ice Hockey West Regional in 2007 and the Frozen Four 2008 held at Pepsi Center; was the Tournament Director for Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship in 2001 and 2007 as well as Sun Belt Conference Swimming Championship in 2002; and in 2004 was the Tournament Director for the first-ever Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women's Lacrosse Championship. Grahame has served as Tournament Director for the Denver Cup (men's hockey) since 1993 and the Tournament Director for the Faceoff Classic (men's lacrosse) since 2000.

Ron and his wife Charlotte have two sons, John, an NHL goaltender who won the Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Jason, who was a student athlete (men's ice hockey) for the University of Denver until he graduated in 2003. Jason currently lives in Denver while working for the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation.  Ironically, Ron and Jason were the first father and son to have played hockey at the University of Denver.
