DENVER - Wichita State beat Denver 4-3 in nonconference women's tennis action Sunday afternoon at CAC-Monaco. The Shockers claimed four singles points and improved to 7-5 with the win. DU falls to 8-5 with its second straight loss.

DU claimed the doubles point when Elena Najera (San Diego, Calif.) and Emma Isberg (Tyreso, Sweden) beat Wichita State's Lutfiana Budiharto and Carla Venticinque 8-4 at No. 2. Sophia Bergner (Schechen, Germany) and Steffi Rath (Hochst, Austria) added an 8-6 win over Veronika Blaskova and Lucia Kovalova at No. 1.

Isberg beat Blaskova 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Rath bested Venticinque 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 for DU's other points.

The Pioneers return to action at North Texas on Friday, March 9.
