DU Concludes Play at Longhorn Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - The Denver women's tennis team completed action at the Longhorn Invitational Sunday at Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas.

The Pioneers competed in four voluntary consolation matches today. Seniors Sophia Bergner (Schechen, Germany) and Steffi Rath (Hochst, Austria) beat LSU's Caroline Hudson and Ella Taylor 9-8 in one doubles match.

Sophomore Michelle Garpenlov (Tyreso, Sweden) and Emma Isberg (Tyreso, Sweden) beat Rice's Leah Fried and Jane Stewart 9-7 in the other doubles match.

Mandy van den Eerenbeemt (Best, The Netherlands) beat North Texas' Agustina Valenzuela 7-6, 6-4 in a singles match.

Caroline Schnell (Greenwood Village, Colo.) and van den Eerenbeemt dropped an 8-2 decision to Juliana Gajic and Elizabeth Begley of Texas.

The Pioneers return to action at the ITA All-American Championships on Sept. 29.
