DENVER - Seniors Sophia Bergner (Schechen, Germany) and Emma Isberg (Tyreso, Sweden) have been named co-captains of the University of Denver women's tennis program, Pioneer Head Coach Jeremy Wurtzman announced Thursday.
Bergner was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference singles and doubles team last year as a junior. The two-time team most valuable player leads Denver with an 8-4 fall record. Isberg has been a valuable role player for the Pioneers and has five singles wins this fall.
"Sophia and Emma have given a lot to DU Women's Tennis, and have grown a ton over the last three years, Wurtzman said. "They are both deserving of the honor because they bring a ton of experience to the court and exemplify what it means to be a student-athlete at DU. The team will benefit greatly from their leadership."
Denver returns to action at the Houston Invitational on Nov. 2-4.
