HOUSTON - University of Denver women's tennis senior Emma Isberg (Tyreso, Sweden) defeated Liberty's Valerie Thong to advance to the finals of the Tom Landry Singles Draw at the Tennis Express Houston Open on Saturday. Isberg topped Thong 6-4, 6-2, and will now compete in the flight final on Sunday.
Senior Sophia Bergner (Schechen, Germany) recorded a victory in the Akeem Olajuwon Singles Draw, topping North Texas' Kseniya Bardabush 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 to advance to the consolation final tomorrow.
Sophomore Michelle Garpenlov (Tyreso, Sweden) and senior Steffi Rath (Hochst, Austria) both had their singles matches postponed to Sunday due to thunderstorms.
Denver will close out play at the Houston Open on Sunday.
