HOUSTON, Texas. - Senior Emma Isberg (Tyreso, Sweden) defeated Iowa State's Meghan Cassens 6-1, 6-3 to win the Tom Landry Singles Draw, as the University of Denver women's tennis team completed play at the Houston Open Sunday.

Senior Steffi Rath (Hochst, Austria) also tallied a singles win 6-7, 6-2, 10-8 over North Texas' Victoria Parshikova to advance to the Leroy Burrell Singles Draw Final, but the flight final was cancelled due to delays caused by thunderstorms.

Senior Sophia Bergner (Schechen, Germany) and sophomores Mandy van den Eerenbeemt (Best, Netherlands) and Michelle Garpenlov (Tyreso, Sweden) were all unable to finish their singles matches due to weather-related scheduling constraints, while the pairs of Bergner and van den Eerenbeemt, and Rath and Isberg had their doubles matches canceled.

The Pioneers will kick off their spring season when they take on Texas Tech Saturday, Jan. 19.
