DENVER - University of Denver's Emma Isberg (Tyreso, Sweden) has been selected as the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Month for November, conference officials announced today.
Isberg, a senior, captured the Tom Landry Singles Draw at the Houston Open earlier this month with a perfect 3-0 mark. She opened the event with a straight-set victory (6-2, 6-3) over North Texas' Ilona Serchenko before advancing to the finals with a 6-4,6-2 triumph against Liberty's Valerie Thong.
In the finals, Isberg posted a 6-1, 6-4 win over Iowa State's Megan Cassens to secure the flight title.
In doubles action, Isberg teamed up with Steffi Rath (Hochst, Austria) to advance to the semifinal round at the Houston Open before they were upended by a tandem from Rice University by an 8-3 margin.
Isberg concluded the fall campaign with an overall singles record of 8-4.
