DENVER - The University of Denver women's tennis team has signed two players to National Letters of Intent, head coach Jeremy Wurtzman announced today.
Maureen Slattery received All-Virginia honors in high school and was name Daily Press Player of the Year. She went undefeated in singles play at Hampton Roads Academy.
"Maureen has been a top junior all through junior tennis," Wurtzman said. "She comes to Denver with a wealth of experience playing against the top juniors in the US and will be a major part of our success during her time at DU. We look forward to the opportunity of improving her tennis and developing her in to a top collegiate player."
Sonja Radosevic was an All-Dade honoree and reached the Florida State Semifinals.
"Sonja comes from Miami, Fla. and has played in arguably the toughest section in the US during her junior career," Wurtzman said. "She has been successful in the Florida section and also against players around the country. Sonja is tall, lefty, and athletic. She has a ton of room for improvement and with a good developmental plan in place at DU. She will continue to develop into a great collegiate player."
The Pioneers will open their spring season when they take on Texas Tech Saturday Jan. 19.
