DENVER - The University of Denver men's tennis team signed Eric Marbach (Naperville, Ill.) and Alex Gasson (Alton, United Kingdom) to National Letters of Intent, head coach Danny Westerman announced today.

"We are very excited to sign both Eric and Alex to NLIs," Westerman said. "Both players work extremely hard, love to practice and will add a lot to our program.  Eric is has great size at 6-foot-4 and is only getting better.  Alex also is a big guy and has recently had some fantastic results in Great Britain.  We expect both players to make an immediate impact in our lineup.  (Assistant coach) Chris Lam and I cannot wait to get on the court with these guys and help them reach their potential.  Both players have very high aspirations, and we know that they will develop in our program."

Marbach was named All-Illinois and won the Midwest Section Indoor Championship. He has been ranked as high as No. 25 in the nation and No. 5 in the Midwest. Marbach has won three consecutive Northern Illinois Championships.

Gasson won both the singles and doubles titles at the under-18 Scottish Junior Open, as well as the singles title at the under-18 Bournemouth National Open. He was named Hampshire Player of the Year in 2011 and was ranked No. 1 in the UK under-18 rankings at the age of 16.

Denver will begin its spring season on Jan. 6 at the Key Biscayne Invitational in Miami, Fla.
