DENVER - University of Denver's Sophia Bergner (Schechen, Germany) has been selected as the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced today.

Bergner, a senior, is coming off of a 7-5, 6-2 singles victory over ITA's 49th-ranked Samantha Adams of Texas Tech in No. 1 singles play.

The Pioneers fell to No. 21 Texas Tech in their first match of the spring schedule 6-1.  Denver looks to rebound Friday, Jan. 25 when they host Louisiana Lafayette.
