The Pioneers were unable to claim the first point falling in two of three doubles matches. Freshman Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.) paired with sophomore Luke Manley (Edmonton, Alberta) in No. 3 doubles and defeated Drake's Anis Ghorbel and Robin Goodman to pick up Denver's only doubles victory.
Denver senior Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia) resumed his spot at No. 1 singles role and battled No. 50 Ghorbel. The match went unfinished with Ghorbel leading 6-3, 5-3. Senior Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) returned to No. 2 singles and concluded an unfinished match with No. 121 Jame McKie trailing, 6-2, 2-6, 3-1. Junior Alex Clinkenbeard (Loveland, Colo.) was also unable to complete his match. Clinkenbeard trailed Drake's Ben Mullis 6-4, 0-3
The Pioneers will face either No. 38 San Diego or No. 44 Memphis Friday, March 22 on day-two of the classic.
