SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Denver men's tennis team was defeated by No. 20 Drake 4-0 on the first day of the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley Spring Classic.

The Pioneers were unable to claim the first point falling in two of three doubles matches. Freshman Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.) paired with sophomore Luke Manley (Edmonton, Alberta) in No. 3 doubles and defeated Drake's Anis Ghorbel and Robin Goodman to pick up Denver's only doubles victory.

Denver senior Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia) resumed his spot at No. 1 singles role and battled No. 50 Ghorbel. The match went unfinished with Ghorbel leading 6-3, 5-3. Senior Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) returned to No. 2 singles and concluded an unfinished match with No. 121 Jame McKie trailing, 6-2, 2-6, 3-1. Junior Alex Clinkenbeard (Loveland, Colo.) was also unable to complete his match. Clinkenbeard trailed Drake's Ben Mullis 6-4, 0-3

The Pioneers will face either No. 38 San Diego or No. 44 Memphis Friday, March 22 on day-two of the classic.

No. 1 Erasmus/Salibasic (DU) def. Bonin/Vorkefeld (DEN), 8-6
No. 2 Ben Lott/McKie (DU) def. Biasion/Krammer (DEN), 8-2
No. 3 Craig/Luke Manley (DEN) def. Ghorbel/Goodman (DU), 8-5

Order of finish: 2,3,1
