Denver’s Women’s Tennis Heads to ITA Regional Championship

DENVER- The University of Denver women’s tennis hits the road this week to compete in the ITA Regional Championship from Wednesday, October 9 – Sunday, October 13 at UNLV.

Seniors Natalie Dunn (Fort Collins, Colo.) and Caroline Schnell (Greenwood Village, Colo.), junior Michelle Garpenlov (Tyreso, Sweden), sophomores Charlotte Derbyshire (Stockton, England) and Kathryn Hughes (Wrexham, Wales) and freshmen Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp, Belgium), Sonja Radosevic (Miami, Fla.) and Maureen Slattery (New Port News, Va.) will be representing the Pioneers in Las Vegas, Nev.

The women are fresh off of a strong opening weekend at the University of Colorado Invitational where Denver had a player advance to the finals in all three tournament draws – including Derbyshire who defeated Colorado’s Ashley Tiefel 6-4, 6-3 in the championship match of the Silver Draw, Hughes who advanced to the final of the Gold Draw but did not play because of time limitations and Hughes and Slattery who advanced to the doubles final where they were defeated.

The action in Las Vegas, Nev. continues through October 13 at UNLV.
