DENVER- The University of Denver women’s tennis team signed Julia O’Loughlin (Lighthouse Point, Fla.) and Gracia Mboko (Burlington, Ontario) for the 2014-15 season, head coach Christian Thompson announced on Thursday.

“Both Julia and Gracia are going to be impact players for our team,” Thompson said. “They both display the core characteristics and values that we are looking for in our future Pios. We are excited to have them join our family next year.”

O’Loughlin is a 5-star recruit who was previously ranked #1 in the country in U12.

Since then, she was ranked No.12 in 2010, No.11 in 2011, No.21 in 2012.  Entering 2013, she was ranked No.43 nationally. O’Loughlin, who lived in Denver for many years as a child, most recently won the 2013 Regionals doubles title in Florida.

Mboko, a 2013 G5 ITF finalist, also placed third at the Indoor Provincials this year. Prior to her successes in 2013, Mboko was a doubles finalist at U16 Outdoor Nationals (2012), placed sixth at U18 Outdoor Nationals (2012) and was a doubles semi-finalist at the U18 ITF Canadian World Ranking Event Two (2012). In 2010, Mboko was a singles and doubles champion at U14 Ontario Indoor Provincials and a doubles finalist at U14 Outdoor Nationals.

Denver women’s tennis returns to action in 2014 when it heads to California for the Long Beach State Invite January 10-12.
