No more than two points separates each position through seventh place in the Commissioner’s Cup standings with Denver just one point behind IUPUI and SDSU with 20 points, followed closely by North Dakota State with 19.5 points. South Dakota (17.5 points) is in fifth place with Fort Wayne (15.5 points), Western Illinois (14 points) and Omaha (7.5 points) rounding out the field.

IUPUI sits atop the Commissioner’s Cup standings after capturing the volleyball title and placing third in men’s cross country and fourth in women’s cross country and men’s soccer. Meanwhile, South Dakota State placed first in men’s cross country and added second-place finishes in women’s cross country and women’s soccer. Denver is second in the standings after capturing the men’s and women’s soccer titles and placing second in volleyball.

North Dakota State leads the women’s standings after winning the women’s cross country championship title and placing third in women’s soccer.

The Commissioner’s Cup is given annually to the member institution that collects the most combined points in relationship to placement in league-sponsored sports between its men’s and women’s athletic programs, while the All-Sports Awards are given to the institutions that accumulate the most points in men’s sports and women’s sports. The men’s award is named for former Valparaiso Director of Athletics Dr. William Steinbrecher, who guided the Crusaders from 1979-2004, while the women’s award is named for former Western Illinois Director of Athletics Dr. Helen Smiley, who headed WIU’s athletic program from 1994-2001.
