DENVER – The University of Denver men’s tennis team claimed the No. 57 spot while the women’s squad came in at No. 62 in the ITA Division I team rankings released January 2 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Sophomore Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.) was also acknowledged by the ITA for his successes in singles tennis. The Pioneer was ranked No.86 in the Men's National Singles Rankings. Craig is the only DU tennis player to be ranked.

“It is nice for Henry to be recognized for an outstanding fall season,” head men’s tennis coach Danny Westerman said. “Winning the USTA/ITA Mountain Regional as a sophomore is quite an achievement. We expect Henry to continue his development and help lead our team this spring.”

Claiming the tops spots in the ranking were the reigning champion Stanford Cardinal women's team and Virginia Cavaliers men's team.

Denver men’s tennis returns to action on January 5 when it heads to Miami, Fla. for the three-day long Key Biscayne Invitational. The women start out 2014, in Long Beach, Calif., at the Long Beach State Invite on January 10.
