2011-12: Played in all 43 games  led NCAA rookie defensemen in points (38), goals (11) and assists (27)  tied for fourth among all NCAA rookies in points  ranked fifth among all NCAA defenseman and sixth among all rookies at .88 points per game  tied for first on the team with 13 multi-point games  finished first in WCHA rookie scoring and tied for first in WCHA defenseman scoring with 28 points on eight goals and 20 assists in 28 league games  named HCA National Rookie of the Year, WCHA Rookie of the Year, All-WCHA First Team, All-WCHA Rookie Team, Inside College Hockey WCHA Freshman of the Year, College Hockey News Rookie of the Year and All-College Hockey News Rookie Team  named Pioneer Sportsman of the Year by the University of Denver • named DU's Most Valuable Freshman • recorded his first two career goals, including a shorthanded tally, in 10-2 win vs. Minnesota State (10/22)  scored the game-winning goal in 7-1 win over Air Force (12/31)  recorded a career-high three points (1g, 2a) in 7-3 win over Nebraska Omaha (11/18) and a career-high three assists in 3-2 win over Bemidji State (1/14)  recorded 15 points (4g, 11a) on an eight-game point streak from Dec. 30-Jan. 28 • assisted on Jason Zucker’s game-winning goal in a 3-2 overtime win over Michigan Tech (3/15) in the WCHA Final Five quarterfinals  contributed 64 hits and 34 blocked shots · led Denver defensemen with a +13 plus/minus rating  was named HCA National Rookie of the Month for January • was named WCHA Defensive Player of the week on Jan. 17 • was selected to the Denver Cup Classic All-Tournament Team • committed 12 penalties for 35 PIMs.

Before Denver: Played for the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League from 2009-11 • tallied 82 points on 20 goals and 62 assists in 58 games in 2010-11 • led all BCHL defenseman in scoring and ranked fifth overall • named BCHL Interior Conference Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year • named to the BCHL Interior Conference All-Star Game • participated in the World Junior A Challenge for Team Canada West and was the Grant Men's Wear (Penticton) Player of the Month for October 2010 • led BCHL defensemen in scoring in 2009-10 with 65 points (13g, 52a) in 54 games at Penticton • ranked seventh overall in assists and added 10 power-play goals • teammate of Pioneer forward Beau Bennett in 2009-10.
