DENVER - University of Denver freshman left winger Jason Zucker (Las Vegas, Nev.) has been named Red Baron WCHA Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, the WCHA announced today.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound NHL draftee of the Minnesota Wild scored two goals, including the game-winner on the power play, and added an assist as then-No. 9/10 Denver earned three league points with a 5-3 win and 2-2 overtime tie at Alaska Anchorage last weekend.

Zucker netted his sixth multi-point effort with two goals, including game-winner, and an assist in Denver's 5-3 win over the Seawolves on Dec. 10. He added a team-leading five shots on goal in the 2-2 overtime tie on Dec. 11. Zucker led DU with nine shots on goal in the series, and added a +3 plus/minus rating, six hits and two blocked shots. He leads the league in goals (14) and is tied for the WCHA lead in points (19) in 14 league games. Zucker ranks third in WCHA rookie scoring for all games with 21 points (14g, 7a).

Zucker and teammate Drew Shore (Denver) are among 29 players vying for 22 roster spots on the U.S. World Junior Team, which will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2010-Jan. 5, 2011, in Buffalo and Niagara, N.Y. Zucker helped Team USA to the gold medal at the World Juniors last season.

No. 7 Denver (12-5-3, 9-3-2 WCHA) returns to action against Northern Michigan on Dec. 31-Jan. 1 at Magness Arena.
