2011-12: Played 42 games • recorded 12 points on three goals and nine assists and was +5 in plus/minus rating • scored the game-winning goal in 5-3 win over North Dakota (2/25)  scored his first career goal in 10-2 win vs. Minnesota State (10/22) and added a goal in a 5-2 win over Alabama-Huntsville (1/7)  assisted on the game-winning goal in 3-2 overtime win over Wisconsin (3/11) to advance team to 2012 WCHA Final Five  recorded four points (1g, 3a) during a four-game point streak from Jan. 6-14  was named WCHA Rookie of the Week on Feb. 14  contributed 118 hits and 56 blocked shots • led the team with 27 penalties for a team-leading 76 PIMs.

Before Denver: Played for the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League in 2010-11 • registered 16 points on seven goals and nine assists • added 159 PIMs, three power-play goals and two game-winning goals • named to the 2011 USHL All-Star Team • named the Most Valuable Player at the 2010 World Junior A Challenge after leading the gold-medal winning Americans with his outstanding defensive play • contributed one assist with four PIMs as Team USA outscored its opponents 22-7 in the World Junior A Challenge • selected by the New York Islanders in the second round (34th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft • participated in the 2011 USA Hockey Junior Evaluation Camp.
