DENVER - University of Denver men's lacrosse head coach Bill Tierney announced that Sander Aplet, Wes Berg, Sean Cannizzaro, Carson Cannon, Tyler Ekeroth, Nick Gorman, Garret Holst, Yonjo Kang, Ryan LaPlante, Connor Pagnani, Mike Riis, and Aidan Scott have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Pioneers beginning next season.

"We are very excited to announce our Class of 2015 at the University of Denver," Tierney said. "This group of young men, our second as a coaching staff, represents exactly what we are looking for when we set out to construct a recruiting class. They are first and foremost, fabulous young men from great families, who will devote their efforts to having a positive impact on our university."

Cannizzaro (Cazenovia, N.Y.), Holst (Fishers, Ind.), Pagnani (Nashville, Tenn.) and Scott (Ridgefield, Conn.) join a talented Pioneer attacking core which includes 2011 Preseason All-American juniors Mark Matthews (Oshawa, Ontario) and Alex Demopoulos (Canton, Conn.).

Aplet (Arvada, Colo.), Berg (New Westminster, B.C.), Ekeroth (San Diego, Calif.) and Kang (Bronxville, N.Y.) will add depth to a Pioneer midfield that is only losing three seniors to graduation.

"We have a combination of elite young lacrosse players and amazing student-athletes in this class," Tierney said. "It is a well-balanced group, with impact players in the spots we need, and others who will provide depth when they are young, and grow into strong contributors as the years go on. As a unit, this group will undoubtedly help us climb the Division I lacrosse ladder, as we continue to be a top contender in the ECAC and attempt to improve our success in the NCAA tournament."

Cannon (Stillwater, Minn.), Gorman (Olney, Md.) and Riis (Carlsbad, Calif.) will join a largely veteran group of defenders on the Pioneer roster.

Between the pipes, LaPlante (Fort Collins, Colo.) is an ESPN Rise Top-20 goalie recruit who has significant potential to contribute to Denver's future defensive success.

At the end of the 2011 season Denver will bid farewell to seven seniors: Todd Baxter (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Jeff Brown (Cohasset, Mass.), Alex Drexler (New Canaan, Conn.), Emerson Eichler (New Vernon, N.J.), Andrew Lay (Denver, Colo.), Jamie Macdonald (Providence, R.I.) and Steve Simonetti (Dublin, Ohio).
