HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - University of Denver sophomore goalkeeper Jamie Faus (Lakeville, Conn.) underwent surgery this afternoon at the University of Colorado Hospital to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left leg. Initial determination is that Faus will miss the remainder of the 2012 season as this injury usually has a six month recovery process.

"The initial reports from the surgeon are that Jamie's surgery went extremely well," said head coach Bill Tierney. "They were able to cleanly suture his Achilles tendon back together and his prognosis is great. We look forward to having Jamie back in the locker room and on the sidelines, helping support his teammates in the coming games. I am confident that Jamie will make a 100 percent recovery and although the healing process for this type of injury is trying, there is no one who will work harder than Jamie to get back on the field."

Faus sustained an injury prior to the start of the third overtime period in the Pioneers' 10-9 loss to No. 7/8 Notre Dame on Sunday.

The Pioneers travel down to Air Force this Saturday to face the Falcons in an Eastern College Athletic Conference game at 1 p.m. MT. A live blog and live stats will be available through DenverPioneers.com. Air Force will have a live video feed of the game.
