DENVER - The University of Denver welcomes writer Pat Rooney back for his second year as a weekly contributor to DenverPioneers.com.

Rooney was a beat writer for the Rocky Mountain News from the Fall of 2000 until the paper's closure in February 2009, covering the Pioneers during most of his tenure. During that time, Rooney also wrote Crimson & Gold: The Denver Pioneers' Magical Run to the 2004 National Championship, a book that chronicled DU hockey's first of back-to-back NCAA titles.

Prior to the Rocky Mountain News, Rooney spent five years as a sports writer at the Chicago Tribune. Rooney also has written for Mile High Sports Magazine, the Associated Press and Rockies Magazine, in addition to various national newspapers.Currently, Rooney is a staff writer with BoCoPreps.com.
