HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - The No. 5/6 University of Denver women's golf team won its first tournament of the season as it posted a three-round 15-over par 879 in the 2009 Ron Moore Intercollegiate at Highlands Ranch Golf Club in Highlands Ranch, Colo.

The Pioneers shot a final score of 6-over par 294 on another cold and rainy day to win their sixth-consecutive Ron Moore Intercollegiate crown, while senior Stephanie Sherlock (Barrie, Ontario) posted an even-par 72 for the day to claim the individual medalist honors.

"I am really pleased with the way our team competed," said head coach Sammie Chergo. "It's always nice to kick off the season with a win and I couldn't be happier for Stephanie. She has been such an important part of our team for years and to win our home event as a senior is just icing on the cake."
