CC struck first at 1:11 of the first period with a power-play goal from Jimmy Kilpatrick. DU outshot CC 9-8 in the period, but Richard Bachman (24 saves) stopped all nine Pioneer shots.
The second period belonged to Ruegsegger and Mannino. Ruegsegger evened the score on a delayed penalty (6-on-5 DU advantage) with a rebound blast past Bachman at 18:09 and assisted on Rakhshani's go-ahead goal 45 seconds later. Patrick Mullen (
