MADISON, Wis. – University of Denver sophomore Brock Trotter (Brandon, Manitoba) and freshman forward Tyler Bozak (Regina, Saskatchewan) have earned Red Baron® WCHA Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, for Jan. 2-7. The Denver duo was honored for their efforts during last weekend’s Wells Fargo Denver Cup. Trotter and Bozak also earned the same WCHA honors Dec. 18.

Trotter was named the Most Valuable Player of the Wells Fargo Denver Cup after producing six scoring points, firing nine shots on goal, and earning a +3 plus-minus rating in No. 3-ranked Denver’s victories over Sacred Heart and Dartmouth. Trotter tallied one goal and added two assists for three points and was named the game’s No. 2 Star in last Friday’s (Dec. 28) 5-0 shutout of Sacred Heart at Magness Arena. Trotter then came back last Saturday (Dec. 29) evening to score the game-opening goal and set up two more DU goals as the Pioneers defeated Dartmouth, 5-3, in the Wells Fargo Denver Cup championship game.

On the 2007-08 season, Trotter leads Denver in scoring and ranks tied for second in the WCHA with 27 points on 12 goals and 15 assists. He has netted four consecutive multiple-point games, including back-to-back three-point games, and has produced five goals, five assists and 10 points during that span.

Bozak earns his third Red Baron® WCHA Rookie of the Week honor after producing four scoring points at the Wells Fargo Denver Cup. Bozak also earned the weekly honor on both Nov. 6 and Dec. 18.

Bozak scored one goal and assisted on three others in the series, fired eight shots on goal and earned a +2 plus-minus rating. Bozak, who ranks second in scoring among WCHA rookies this season with 21 points on 10 goals and 11 assists, is in the midst of a four-game point-scoring streak during which he has two goals, six assists and eight points. In addition to his four points in the Wells Fargo Denver Cup, Bozak also went 29-for-48 (60%) in faceoffs and added five hits and two blocks.

The No. 3 Pioneers (16-4) host Wisconsin Jan. 11-12 at Magness Arena.
