WEEK ONE:

I have to admit I was very excited and also really nervous about coming to college early.  Training started Saturday morning and although I have been preparing for a long time I was still really not sure exactly what to expect.  Since we fly out to North Carolina on Thursday for games this weekend, the team came back from their spring breaks early and we had two practices each on Saturday and Sunday. The training sessions this weekend were intense and I am working hard to catch on quickly.

I was able to get free out of the back and score a good goal when we played during the first session, which Coach Pflugrad made me promise to mention in my blog.  Though I was nervous, the guys really helped me through it and have been showing me how things are done and what is expected.   Having developed strong relationships with the team and staff through my visits to DU and the recruiting process, it has definitely eased my transition so far.  We all ate dinner together Saturday night and watched the NCAA Basketball games and DU Hockey’s Conference Championship game on TV.  The weather all weekend was fantastic and I have loved being at DU so far.

Monday morning I will be attending my first college class, and again I don't know what to think.  This first weekend has gone by so fast it has been hard to find time to stop and think about it.  I'm looking forward to traveling to North Carolina for our two spring games this weekend against Wake Forest and High Point University.  I think it is going to be a great experience not only for me but for the rest of the team. We will be able to get a good sense of where we are and how much harder we must work to get to the next level of our game.

I’d like to say hello to all my friends and family back in Houston!  I’ll be writing again next week when we return from North Carolina.

Go Pioneers!!
