2008-09: Won the 50-free at the SBC Championships with a school-record time of 23.02 • won the 100-back at the SBC Championships with a school-record time of 54.54 • member of the first-place 400-free relay team at the SBC Championships (3:21.67) • placed third in the 200-back at the SBC Championships (1:59.79) • led off the second-place and school record-setting 200-medley relay (1:42.77) 400-medley relay (3:43.75) and 200-free relay (1:33.02) teams at the SBC Championships • won the 50-free at Mines (24.89).
2007-08: Helped set some of the fastest times medley relay times the Pioneers posted, including in the 200-medley relay (1:44:39) against Ohio State, and the 400-medley relay (3:46.36) at the SBC championships • also was part of Pioneers freestyle relay teams that swam season-best times in the 200-freestyle relay (1:34.16) and the 400-freestyle relay (3:24.80) • won two races at Air Force, the 50-freestyle (24.64) and the 100-backstroke (59.67) • won the 100-backstroke against Arkansas (58.47) • got DU’s first win of the day at CSU when she won the 50-freestyle (24.79), and later won the 100-backstroke by three one-hundredths of a second (58.25) • won the 100-backstroke against Wyoming by less than half a second (59.49) • captured the win in the 100-freestyle at Pacific (58.58) • notched a win for the Pioneers in the 50-freestyle (24.67) at UNC • won two races at UC Davis, the 100-backstroke (58.69) and the 50-freestyle, by just nine one-hundredths of a second • won in the 50-freestyle (24.69) at the Colorado School of Mines • led a DU sweep of the 50-freestyle, qualifying for a NCAA ‘B’ standard with a school and conference-record swim of 23.18 at the SBC Championships.
Before Denver: 2003-2006 West Ashley (S.C.) High School swimming team MVP • three-time state champion in the 50-freestyle and two-time state champ in the 100-backstroke • South Carolina state record-holder in the 50-free and 100-back • swam both the 50-free and the 100-backstroke at the 2006-07 Junior Nationals • Olympic trial qualifier in the 100-back • four-time member of the South Carolina high school all-state swimming teams (2004-07) • 2007 All-American in the 50-freestyle and 100-backstroke.
Personal: Born June 2, 1989, in Charleston, S.C.• daughter of Scott and Jeannine Motsinger • has two siblings, sister Marguerite (15) and Reid (12) • nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman and the NHS scholarship • named Female Athlete of the Year for West Ashley High her senior year • member of National Honor Society and received a Faculty award at graduation • plans to major in communications.
