Serving as the Senior Associate Athletics Director/Chief Financial Officer for the Division of Athletics and Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations and a member of the Division's executive senior staff, Dan VanAckeren directs all of the finance, accounting, and human resources functions within the Division. VanAckeren also serves as the Chair of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Strategic Planning Committee as well as overseeing the Equipment Room, the IT Department and Box Office Operations.
In his 19 years at Denver, VanAckeren has held a variety of positions within the University. VanAckeren has served as Financial Manager of Plant and Capital Projects, Assistant Controller, Associate Athletic Director for Budget and Finance finally being named Senior Associate Athletics Director\Chief Financial Officer for the Division in 2005.
Before coming to the University of Denver, VanAckeren worked for five years at Washington University in St. Louis where he managed several areas of the accounting department.
VanAckeren received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Quincy University in Quincy Illinois. He also received a Master's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting from Regis University. VanAckeren is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, the College and Athletic Business Management Association, and the National Association of College and University Business Officers.
Married for 23 years, he and his wife Beth enjoy watching the Pioneer intercollegiate sport programs compete, spending time with family, hiking, biking, and traveling.
