ELMHURST, Ill. (Summit League) − With the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year complete, The Summit League announced its Academic Distinguished Scholars for the fall season. A total of 280 Summit League student-athletes from five sports (men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and volleyball) were recognized as Distinguished Scholars.
In order to be named a Distinguished Scholar, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.60 grade-point average in the semester in which they compete and must use a year of eligibility.
Denver athletes recognized:
Men's Soccer (6): Frank Carsonie, Jared Cochran, Sam Hamilton, Karsten Hanlin, Tosh Samkange, Alex Underwood
Women's Soccer (4): Brooke Boothe, Mary DeWalt, Lilly McSwain, Riley Welch
Volleyball (3): Cassie Baird, Nola Basey, Sarah Schmid
The Summit League also announced the Fall Academic Honor Roll, which consisted of 531 student-athletes, including 35 student-athletes from Denver.
In order to be named to the Fall Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.0 grade-point average in the semester in which they compete and must use a year of eligibility.

In its fourth decade of Division I athletics, The Summit League offers 19 championship sports and has a combined enrollment of over 120,000 at nine institutions, including four located in top 60 U.S. metro populations and two land-grant universities.
