PIONEERS MOURN THE PASSING OF SANDY LARKIN

The DU Athletics Family was saddened to learn of the passing of alumnus Sandy Larkin (Class of 1969) earlier this week at the age of 72 in his hometown of Middlebury, Connecticut.

A member of the Men’s Lacrosse team in the late-1960s, Larkin still owns the second-best single-game (11, 1967 vs. SCU) goal total in program history and the 12th-highest single season (45, 1967) goal total. He was also a member of the Men’s Soccer program during his tenure at Denver. Upon graduation, Larkin served in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War and went on to careers in aviation and agriculture. He was also a renowned volunteer throughout his life, supporting a wide variety of nonprofit organizations.

Larkin is survived by his wife Mel as well as his children Casey, 28, and Diana, 25. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Chase Collegiate School in Waterbury, Connecticut. Click HERE to read his full obituary from the Waterbury Republican-American.
