DENVER - On the heels of capturing its ninth Learfield Sports Division I-AAA Directors' Cup in the last 10 years, the University of Denver has announced another successful fundraising year for the Division of Athletics and Recreation.

"We are so proud of what is being accomplished at the University of Denver," Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Recreation Peg Bradley-Doppes said. "Our exceptional academic track record continues to be our greatest asset, with a nearly 94% graduation success rate. Athletically, the men's programs finished fifth in the Capital One Cup, and the overall Division finished 35th in the Directors' Cup - our best finish ever --  ahead of more than 30 schools in the SEC, ACC, Pac 12, Big 12 and Big 10. We are so grateful for our very generous donors, seasonticket holders, alumni and friends who make up Pioneer Nation. Without you we could not do this."

A record-breaking 3,326 donors contributed to the Division throughout the year, marking the sixth-consecutive year in an upward trend. In addition, the Division's donor base has more than doubled in size over the past five years.  A portion of that donor base includes all athletics staff and student-athletes. This marks the sixth-straight year of 100% participation from all staffers and student-athletes.

The Division secured over $5.2 million in philanthropic support for the fiscal year, including a 15% increase for the annual fund over last year's total and the third-consecutive year of upward growth. In addition to annual fund support, a number of new scholarship endowments were created throughout the year, bringing the total number of divisional endowments to 101.

"It was truly another magical year for DU Athletics, thanks in part to the unwavering philanthropic support of our ever increasing donor base," Associate Vice Chancellor for External Affairs Brandon Macneill said. "The overwhelming amount of success that our student-athletes demonstrated this year is a direct result of the financial support from our generous donors."
