The Pioneers' fall sports will be featured on Altitude/Altitude 2 on 15 occasions in 2017
Aug. 15, 2017
DENVER – The University of Denver Division of Athletics and Recreation and Altitude Sports & Entertainment have announced the 2017 broadcast schedule for Denver soccer and volleyball contests that will air live on the network this fall. Denver’s three fall sports will be featured 15 times between Altitude and Altitude 2 during the regular season.
“Our partnership with Altitude Sports & Entertainment continues to flourish,” Denver Sports Properties General Manager Brad Ferrell said. “The growing coverage of our men’s and women’s fall sports is a testament to the hard work of our coaches and student athletes. We look forward to bringing our loyal Pioneer fans another year of championship broadcasts through this alliance.”
Denver will open its 2017-18 partnership with Altitude on August 18 (7 p.m. MT) when the Pioneers welcome Air Force to Pioneer Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium for the first match of the 2017 Colorado Cup.
All 15 of DU’s regular season contests will also be streamed live on PioneerVision, the website platform home for the 32-time National Champion Denver Pioneers. Denver will announce additional exclusive contests for PioneerVision for the fall sports later this month.
Potential Summit League Volleyball Tournament matches to be broadcast in November will be announced later this fall.
This expanded DU Athletics coverage on Altitude began in 2014-15 with a total of 31 live Altitude broadcasts from the Denver campus, including the 2014 Summit League Men’s and Women’s Soccer Championships, the 2015 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championships and the 2015 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.
Denver produced 33 total Altitude broadcasts in 2015-16, including 26 last fall. The Pioneers hosted the 2015 Summit League Men’s Soccer and Volleyball Championships, both of which aired on Altitude.
In 2013-14, the initial agreement brokered via Denver Sports Properties, Altitude broadcasted both Pioneer men’s and women’s lacrosse games as a part of a newly established relationship with the Division of Athletics and Recreation.
Ahead of the 2016-17 Denver hockey and men’s and women’s basketball seasons, Denver and Altitude reached a three-year deal to broadcast more than 20 games between the three winter sports.
Both the University of Denver and Altitude are committed to using the expanded partnership as a way to help the next generation of technical experts in the broadcasting field. In 2013-14, DU leadership committed significant resources to upgrade all of the back-of-the-house technical components to HD quality, which allowed the University to produce and oversee all elements of the broadcasts. As a part of its production crew, the University utilized DU students on many of the key technical broadcast elements to further their understanding of the field. Some of the students have now gone on to work other Altitude events as freelancers for the network.
