HUNTSVILLE, Utah – The University of Denver’s Alpine ski team currently sits in first place at the Utah Invitational in Huntsville. The Pioneers’ day was highlighted by first and second place finishes in the women’s Giant Slalom.

DU earned 107 total points, beating out Utah (64.5) and Westminster College (59) as the top three teams on the day.

Earning the top spot was Kristine Aasberg, who raced for a time of 2:22.97. The junior’s first place finish scored 40 points.

“The lack of snow here in Utah made for much tougher course conditions than we faced up in Montana and I was proud to see our ladies step up to the challenge with some tremendous results,” said head coach Andy LeRoy. “Congrats to Aasberg who notched her first college victory.“

Not far behind Aasberg was Tuva Norbye, who took second and skied for a time of 2:23.23, earning 37 points.

Meanwhile, Andrea Komsic scored a fourth place finish, taking 30 points. The Zagreb, Croatia native clocked a time of 2:25.34, beating out Utah’s Ann-Kathrin Breuning.
