DENVER FINISHES SECOND AT SEAWOLF INVITATIONAL
Pios Competed in Mixed Gender Relay Wednesday
Feb. 8, 2017
This is the first time in recent history that a Mixed Gender Relay has been held.
DU collected 569 total team points, good for second place overall. Utah claimed first place with 665 team points.
Coming in third was Colorado with 549 points.
Team one placed third on the day with a time of 58:59.1, collecting 85 points while team two finished in 10th place, gathering 50 points for the Pios and skiing in at a time of 1:03:04.3.
“The first RMISA relay in many years was a success! Both teams performed well, with our first team on the podium in third,” said head coach Dave Stewart. The Girdwood venue is beautiful, perched in a valley between the Chugach Mountain and the Turnagain Arm. I hope we can do more of these relays in the future.”
The Pioneers will remain in Alaska to finish up the second half of competition at the University of Alaska Anchorage Invitational. The final two events will both be Nordic events, the Classical (5/10K) and the Freestyle (15/20K).
