MINTURN, Colo. – Despite starting in sixth on the opening day of the Denver Invitational, the University of Denver ski team finished in second with 590.5 points on Sunday.

The invite was the final RMISA regular season meet of the 2018 season.

The DU Nordic squad put up 154 points on the day, between the women’s 5-km classical and the men’s 10-km classical.

It was a perfect Colorado day for racing,” said Nordic coach Dave Stewart. “Bluebird skies, fresh snow and cold temperatures warming up through the day.  We had a strong team performance with five top-10 results, highlighted by Linn in second fighting for the win.”

Taking the team title was Colorado with 657 points, as the Buffs took their third team meet crown of the season.

The Pioneers scored 88 points on the women’s side, placing second in Nordic action, as the men took fourth with 66.

Highlighting the day was Linn Eriksen who finished second. The senior completed the course in a time of 19:02.6.

Beautiful day and a fun race,” said Eriksen. “I had my first podium of the year in a 5-km race, which I am very happy about!”

In fourth on the men’s side was Dag Frode Trolleboe, who skied for 34:05.4.

I'm happy with the result today,” stated Trolleboe. “I've been struggling on this course in the past, so it was fun to fight in the top today.
