DU in First Through Day One of RMISA Championships

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – On opening day of the RMISA Championships, the University of Denver ski team currently holds the top spot, thanks to 185 points in the Slalom.

The Alpine team scored 104 points from the women and 81 from the men.

The Pioneers took first and second in the women’s Slalom, as Amelia Smart scored the top spot. Fresh off her run in the Olympics, Andrea Komsic skied for second with a total time of 1:21.22.

On the men’s side, Tobias Kogler placed fourth through two runs with a time of 1:26.41.

DU also carded sixth in both Slaloms, thanks to the duo of Tuva Norbye (1:22.32) and Nick Santaniello (1:26.91).


Also finishing in the top-10 was Jett Seymour, as the freshman chalked up an eighth-place finish.

Rounding out the day for Denver was Tanner Farrow who took 18th with a combined time of 1:29.13. Finally, Alex Leever closed out the day with a score of 1:46.40.

The Pioneers return to the slopes tomorrow for the day two of the RMISA Championships.
