Alpine Giant Slalom Races Kick Off Championships

BEAVER CREEK, Colo. – Friday marked the start of the RMISA Championships hosted by the University of Denver ski team in Beaver Creek, Colo. The Alpine team competed in the Giant Slalom Friday to kick off competition, collecting 152.5 points earning them a second place standing after the first day.
The Alpine women had a very strong day, placing three athletes in the top 10 in the GS race with Storm Klomhaus leading the way for the Crimson and Gold, earning a third place finish with a time of 1:48.74.
Tuva Norbye finished sixth on the day with a time of 1:49.01 while teammate Kristine Fausa Aasberg skied in right behind her in seventh with a time of 1:49.05.
Monica Hubner finished just outside of the top 10 in 12th, coming in with a time of 1:49.55.
On the men’s side, Erik Read had another strong day, coming in at fifth with a time of 1:45.45.
Nick Santaniello placed 11th in the GS Friday, finishing with a time of 1:46.34.
Competitions will resume Satuday morning with the Slalom for the Alpine team while the Nordic team kicks off with the Classical races.
