NCAA Championship Preview

and JACKSON, N.H. – The University of Denver ski teams are set to compete at the 2017 National Ski Championships this week, hosted by the University of New Hampshire.

The Pioneers have their sights set on bringing home their 24th national championship this week, including winning back-to-back national championships.

The championships open on Wednesday, March 8 in Franconia, N.H. with the Giant Slalom events at Cannon Mountain.

Nine of Denver’s 12 skiers set to compete at the championships are All-Americans, including Erik Read, Tuva Norbye, Moritz Madlener, Lars Hannah, Taeler McCrerey, Linn Eriksen, Monica Hubner, Sylvia Nordksar, and Dag Frode Trolleboe.



Rounding out the 12 skiers headed to New Hampshire is Andrea Komsic, Tanner Farrow, and Alex Leever.

Along with earning All-American honors, Eriksen and Read each claimed individual titles in the championships last season.

The Crimson and Gold have a strong team heading to the championships, with six of the 12 competitors winning at least one event they competed in this season.

Madlener leads the Nordic team, coming off a sweep at the RMISA Championships in Minturn, Colo., placing first in both the Classic and the Freestyle.

Norbye has also had a solid season, as she was named the RMISA Women’s Alpine MVP this year.
