Skiing Announces 2018 Schedule

Dec. 11, 2017

DENVER – University of Denver’s head skiing coach Andy LeRoy announced the 2018 schedule on Monday. The Nordic team takes part in six contests, while the Alpine team participates in five.

The Nordic team starts the season with the XC Nationals in Kincaid, Alaska from Jan. 2-4. Meanwhile, the Alpine team starts the year Jan.6-8 at the MSU Invite, hosted by Montana State.

Alpine returns to action Jan. 11-13 in Huntsville, Utah at the Snowbasin Resort for the Utah Invitational, hosted by the University of Utah. Nordic hits the slopes Jan. 13-14 for the Nordic portion on the MSU Invite, this time in Bohart Ranch, Mont.

Jan. 18-20 sees the Nordic squad take to Utah for the Utah Invitational up in Soldier Hollow, Utah.

Both the Nordic and Alpine teams head to New Mexico from Feb. 3-4, as part of the New Mexico Invitational. Nordic travels to Enchanted Forest, while Alpine goes to Red River.

Finally, both squads will look to tear up the mountains close to home, as they host the Denver Invitational from Feb. 9-11. Alpine will host its portion in Loveland, while Nordic hosts in Maloit Park.

“I am really looking forward to hosting the Alpine portion of the DU invite at Loveland for the first time,” said LeRoy. “Loveland has become one of our most cherished relationships and I can’t wait to show the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association circuit how fast we can go on our home training site.”

RMISA Regionals start on Feb. 22 and last through the 25 for Alpine as they make the short trip to Steamboat Springs. Meanwhile, Feb. 23 and 24 will see the Nordic portion of the RMISA Regional, also in Steamboat Springs.

Steamboat will also be the site for the 2018 NCAA Skiing National Championships, which start on March 7 and lasts until the 10th.

LeRoy added, “As for the Regional and NCAA championships in Steamboat, I was born and raised there and have won a title both times I have brought Pioneers to town.  I like my chances for three in a row.”
