Denver Swimmers Turn in Strong Showings at 54th Annual Mel Zajac Jr. International

VANCOUVER, B.C. - University of Denver men's and women's swimmers competed at the University of British Columbia last weekend in the 54th Annual Mel Zajac Jr. International. 

Freshman Colin Gilbert (Kamloops, B.C.) and junior Anton Loncar (Hillsboro, Ore.) represented the Canadian National Team and Croatia, respectively, while five DU women's swimmers and 11 DU men's swimmers competed as individuals at the international event. 

Senior Johanna Roas (Munich, Germany) won two events at the meet, including a record-setting performance in the 50 back. Redshirt-senior Andrew Torres (Arvada, Colo.) won the men's 200 fly to highlight the Pioneers' weekend.
