EAST MEADOW, N.Y. Sophomore Sid Farber (Portland, Ore.) won the 50 freestyle by a tenth of a second (22.89) on Saturday evening at the Speedo United States Junior National Championships at the Nassau County Aquatics Center. Farber finished second in the 50 free prelims on Saturday morning to qualify for the A-Final, but the rising sophomore improved his time by two-tenths of a second, good enough to stand at the top of the podium.

On Wednesday, Farber finished third in the 100 free prelims with a 50.63, qualifying him for the A-Finals later that night. The Denver sophomore finished seventh in the finals with a 51.35.
