Denver Sweeps Summit League Swimming and Diving Weekly Honors

ELMHURST, Ill.-  The University of Denver swept league honors for the week, winning the Summit League Swimmers of the Week and Diver of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-16.

Denver senior Heidi Bradley (Victoria, B.C. ) and sophomore Sid Farber (Portland, Ore.) took the swimming honors for the first time in their careers, while sophomore Sammy Walker (Los Gatos, Calif.) earned her third Summit League Diver of the Week award.

Bradley led Denver with three event wins in the dual with New Mexico, winning the 100 butterfly (55.18), and the 200 medley and 400 free relays. Her time in the butterfly currently ranks 31st in the country. She followed that up the next day against Wyoming with three more event wins, taking the 100 fly (55.44), 200 fly (2:09.03), and swimming the 200 yard medley. 

Farber recorded four event wins at Wyoming, helping the Pioneers defeat the Cowboys 163-138. Individually, in the 50 free, Farber swam 20.06 to earn the win and an NCAA B Standard. His time is currently the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA.  He also swam 45.17 in the 100 yard free to take the victory.  Farber also took part in two relays, anchoring the 400 yard free relay, which won in a time of 3:00.93, and the 200 yard medley, which won in 1:31.18.

On Friday, Walker won the 1-meter dive with a score of 235.95, and placed second in the 3-meter, turning in a 242.63. She had a team-high 227.40 against Wyoming in the 1-meter, as well as a team-high 239.40 in the 3-meter, finishing fourth and third, respectively.

UP NEXT: Denver's men's and women's programs will split their weekend next weekend. The Pioneer men host Air Force on Homecoming Friday, October 20 at 5 p.m. MT. Denver's women return to the road next Saturday when the Pioneers head to Colorado State. First swim is set for 12 p.m. MT.
