Bailey Andison Named CollegeSwimming.Com Mid-Major Swimmer of the Week

DENVER (DU/Summit) – University of Denver junior women’s swimmer Bailey Andison (Smiths Falls, Ontario) has been named the CollegeSwimming.com Mid Major National Women’s Swimmer of the Week, the website announced on Tuesday.

In addition, senior women’s swimmer Maddie Myers (Arvada, Colo.), redshirt-senior women’s diver Larissa Grammer (Olathe, Colo.), sophomore men’s swimmer Colin Gilbert (Kamloops, B.C.) and freshman men's diver Jake Ryor (Naperville, Ill.) swept the Summit League’s weekly awards.

Andison helped lead the Pioneers’ women’s program to a 3-0 dual weekend against Tulane, Rice and FIU. In the three dual meets, Andison combined for two relay wins (200 medley relay, 400 medley relay) and five individual wins (200 breast (two wins), 200 IM, 400 IM, 50 breast).

WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

Maddie Myers, DENVER
Sr.  // Arvada, Colo.  

  • Named Summit League Swimmer of the Week for the third time in her career, first this season
  • Combined for five event victories in the weekend’s Dual-a-Pool-Ooza against Tulane, Rice and FIU
  • Clocked a career-best 10:01.78 in the 1000 free against Tulane, marking the NCAA’s No. 32 time
  • Had a pair of 1000 free and 500 free wins and added a 200 free victory

 

 

 

WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK

Larissa Grammer, DENVER
R-Sr. // Olathe, Colo.

  • Earned her fourth career Summit League Diver of the Week award and first this season
  • Helped lead Denver to dual victories over Tulane and Florida International last week
  • Placed first in the 3-meter dive (241.3) vs. Tulane and took fourth (216.05) against FIU

 

MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

Colin Gilbert, DENVER
So. // Kamloops, B.C.   

  • Collected his third career Swimmer of the Week award and first of the season
  • Posted the NCAA’s No. 10 time in the 1650 free (15:53.69) in a victory over a field including BYU and Pacific
  • Won the 500 free with a time of 4:36.20 against BYU and Pacific
  • Recorded a third-place finish in the 200 butterfly against a field that also included Stanford

 

MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK

Jake Ryor, DENVER
Fr. // Naperville, Ill.

  • Collected his first career Summit League Diver of the Week honor
  • Guided the Pioneers to the Pacific Invitational team title
  • Placed first in the 3-meter dive (267.15) and finished in second place in the 1-meter event (224.75)

 

UP NEXT: The two programs will take over a month off before both head to the Tennessee Invite from November 30-December 2. Denver will then take its annual training trip to Florida before the FAU Quad on December 20.
