Denver Men Back Up to No. 23 in CSCAA Poll

CSCAA Poll2017-18 Schedule

DENVER – The University of Denver men’s swimming and diving program moved up from receiving votes to No. 23 in the latest College Swimming Coaches’ Association of America Top-25 on Wednesday.

In addition, junior Bailey Andison (Smiths Falls, Ontario) and sophomore Colin Gilbert (Kamloops, B.C.) swept this week’s CollegeSwimming.com National Mid-Major Swimmers of the Week.

Andison, who was also named the Summit League Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, broke Denver’s school record, broke the Summit League record, qualified for the 2018 NCAA Championships and won the 200 IM at a competitive Tennessee Invitational last weekend with a 1:54.38. Andison also turned in a 4:06.10 in the 400 IM, a time that was good enough to qualify for the NCAA Championships in 2017. Overall, Andison was a part of six NCAA B Standards.

Gilbert was a part six NCAA B Standards and won the men’s 500 free at the 2017 Tennessee Invitational. Gilberts 500 free prelims and finals time were both NCAA B Standards, led by his winning 4:16.32 in the finals. The Denver sophomore also swam the opening leg of the 800 free relay, recording a 1:37.29 in the opening 200, one of three 200 free NCAA B Standards Gilbert turned in last weekend. Finally Denver’s top distance swimmer recorded a 15:14.84 in the 1650 free, another NCAA B Standard.

UP NEXT: Denver will head back to Florida for its Winter Training Trip before capping off the trip with a quad meet at Florida Atlantic on December 20.
