BANDON, Ore. The University of Denver men's golf team got a big-time performance from Chris Korte on Monday at the Bandon Dunes Championship. The senior shot a season-low 66 (5-under) that helped jump the Pioneers up on the team leaderboard after two rounds of play.

Par for the 6,633-yard course was 71.

Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Korte, Eric Hagen, Isaac Petersilie, Jackson Solem and John Sand.

No. 22 Arizona State continues to lead after 36 holes, up five strokes on Utah going into the final round on Tuesday.

Korte’s 66 marked the fourth time this season the Littleton native has posted a total in the 60s.

“Chris had an awesome day shooting 66 and was fantastic,” Billinger said. “He had eight birdies on the day and was extremely focused. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to come in with the high winds and the rain, so that will give us an opportunity to show our grit and move up the board.”

The senior’s terrific outing placed him in a tie for 13th at 2-under through two rounds, up 35 spots from Monday.

Sand followed up his 70 with a 74 on day two, putting him in a tie for 37th.

Hagen wrapped up his second round in a tie for 61st.

Solem improved on his 78 on Tuesday, shooting a 76 for the round.

Petersilie sits tied for 81st.

Round three is set for Tuesday.
